The Opportunity 
We are currently seeking an individual for the role of Payroll Administrator. The Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all payroll. This position will be part of the Human Resources team and will report into the Manager of Human Resources. Please note, this position will be based out of our Balzac, AB office.

Primary Responsibilities
• Responsible for full cycle payroll processing for all salaried and hourly employees at our five subsidiary companies (semi-monthly). 
• Responsible for completing commission and bonus payments for our five subsidiary companies 
• Compile payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance and other deductions 
• Extract timesheets and review work hours for completeness and accuracy 
• Process data to ADP WorkForce Now (USA) and Ceridian (Canada) 
• Create required internal management reports from the payroll system 
• Create payroll profiles for all new employees, as advised by HR 
• Perform various clerical tasks; and maintain employee profiles on payroll
• Ensure all wage changes are made accurately and on time for effected pay periods 
• Follow payroll procedures for terminated employees (ROE’s in Canada) 
• Backup to Benefits Administrator – experience with all aspects of Benefits Administration 
• Stay current with payroll regulations, standards and work methods • Ensure the timely distribution of the pay slips. 
• Reconcile payroll totals and ensure all deductions for health benefit plans are made as scheduled 
• Ensure accurate processing of sick pay, benefits and vacation payouts 
• Respond to employee and government agency inquiries pertaining to payroll 
• Ensure the creation and timely distribution of T4’s (Canada) and W2’s (USA) for Year-end reporting requirements 
• Responsible for Federal, State and Provincial reporting requirements in both Canada and the USA. 
• Participate in required meetings providing input and recommendations 
• Adhere to all procedures and policies and perform other human resources duties as assigned 

Skills and Qualifications 
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience working within a high-volume payroll environment is required 
• PCP or CPA certification 
• Previous experience with North American payroll processing is required 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook 
• Familiar with computerized payroll programs – Ceridan and WorkForce Now (ADP)
• Ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbally) to all levels in the organization 
• Exceptional time management skills 
• Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
